The Schwinn Airdyne Exercise Bike
Many became acquainted with the Schwinn Airdyne bike in gyms and fitness centers over the years. Then many of those users went on to acquire the same bike for home use. There are no figures that I know of that document the number of Air dyne bikes still in use in commercial establishments but likely it is far less than it was at one time. Now the direction exercise bikes have gone is to more electronics and more computer power and rightly so. The electronic drives are all but silent and enable the displays that link variable resistance to simulate real world workouts. The Airdyne lacks most of that but the reasons it was likely found in many fitness locations make it still a viable and popular exercise machine.
The Airdyne for one is very rugged. Conditioned athletes can destroy a lesser bike in short order. The Airdyne is hard to destroy. It’s a simple and rugged design instead. In addition the Airdyne by working both upper and lower body muscles makes for a more balanced workout.
